Scotland Tonight – London Mayor Boris Johnston tells bus drivers to accept Scots banknotes

1 Comment 01 October 2012

London Mayor Boris Johnston has told the city’s bus drivers to accept Scottish banknotes. The issue over whether notes from Scottish banks are legal tender came to light recently when a journalist had his 5 refused by a London bus driver. Daily Telegraph Scottish editor Alan Cochrane wrote a column about his recent experience, where he and his family were forced to “scrape together” some change to pay for the bus fare. He wrote an email about the issue to Mr Johnston, who responded by stating that he had sent a note to the transport department to “remind all drivers operating out of the bus garage of this route that Scottish bank notes are legal tender to ensure this does not happen again.” On Wednesday’s Scotland Tonight, Mr Cochrane said that his family were “very annoyed” and found the experience “very embarrassing”. He stated that the problems over whether Scottish banknotes are accepted south of the border could “give rise to a feeling that the English have got it in for us.” As a committed unionist Mr Cochrane said he did not want this, before adding: “You could say [himself and Mr Johnston] have done more for Scotland than Alex Salmond has as First Minister.”

After Vishwas’ father is brutally murdered, the boy vows to find this killer and bring him to justice. Around the same time, a girl is raped by her doctor and she approaches the police to lodge a complaint against Dr. Dinesh. To their surprise, the police zero in on Dr. Dinesh as the ‘Kidney Murderer’ by virtue of the evidence they chance upon in his clinic. Will the police be able to stop the doctor from striking his next victim who ironically is Vishwas? – Watch this episode of ‘Crime Patrol’ to find out! CRIME PATROL is a reality series. However the case presentation would be a story telling form that would have the interest of a fiction drama presentation. The prelude and finale to the case would make the case a complete story. Interactions with the analysts on the show would be treated with the audience interest point of view keeping it only as much as essential to the story telling. Going beyond the drama of police action in a crime situation, the show also aims to look into the why behind a crime. Police action on one hand gives the show the edge of how the law keepers bring the culprits to book or stop a crime from being committed. On the other hand, the show will also be looking at the sociological aspect behind a crime- both from the victim as well as the criminals side. The cases would be driven by cameras moving
